This week, the National P-3 Center is hosting 12 teams from across the country at the National P-3 Institute in San Diego, CA. This intensive, strategic planning “retreat” for approximately 100 people is the premier, biennial event of the Center. The Institute was first held in 2008, led by Harvard Graduate School of Education, and managed by Dr. Kristie Kauerz. When the National P-3 Center was established in 2013, the Institute became a foundational part of the Center’s work. This year’s participants include state-level teams from California, Hawai’i Nevada, and New Jersey; regional-level teams from San Diego and southwest Washington; and school district teams from Anchorage (AK), Coachella Valley (CA), Highline (WA), Long Beach (CA), Portland (OR), and Yakima, (WA).
This is also the perfect opportunity to introduce the amazing team at the National P-3 Center: Amy Brenton, Operations Manager; Stephanie Olmore, Sr. Professional Research Assistant, and Amber Minogue, Sr. Professional Research Assistant. Amy joined the Center in June after being with CPE for many years. Stephanie is an Ed.D. student in Executive Leadership and most recently was senior director of global engagement at National Association for the Education of Young Children. Amber is a Ph.D. student in Early Childhood Policy who has been working at the intersection of policy and implementation in Colorado for 15 years. You can find them in LSC #629.
