Syllabus Guidelines

  • Ed and Liz attended a lunch and learn by Jacob McWilliams, Director of the Women & Gender Center on syllabus design for social justice
  • There are four core principles for a social justice syllabus redesign
    • Revisit content
      • Who are the experts and why
    • Reform relationships
      • Is language in the syllabus democratic or legal
    • Realign assignments
      • Are assignments relevant to real life experiences
    • Rebuild community
      • How will you honor, value and affirm students
    • The committee will complete the final draft of the syllabus guidelines during the Dec 7, 2020 meeting
