I. GENERAL BUSINESS & REVIEW/DISCUSSIONS:

GFA Concerns:

  • Can the committee waive letter of recommendation requirements for lectures who previously worked for the SEHD as faculty members?
    • For the protection of the school, the committee does not have the authority to waive the requirement of two letters of recommendation.
  • Concern over how current an external letter of recommendation must be. Letters from the recommending program must be current. Committee will check with Scott Bauer for further input.

II. COURSE PROPOSAL/REVISION REQUESTS:

  • The committee was asked to come up with a policy to review syllabi every five years.
  • The committee was asked to consider what feedback/review should be given on syllabi that inform students of research being done in the course and requiring that students “opt out.”
  • The committee was asked to work with Julie O’Brien and Kent Seidel concerning review of syllabi that has students collecting data in settings where the new data privacy laws may apply.

  • Revising titles and course descriptions for three SPSY courses, to meet the recommendations from the American Psychological Association (APA)
    • SPSY 6500 Meeting the Mental Health Needs of Children and Adolescents.
      • New Title: Affective Bases of Behavior and Psychopathology
    • SPSY 6170 Assessment and Intervention: Birth to 3
      • New Title: Applied Development Science and Assessment
    • SPSY 7500 Neuroeducational Assessment and Intervention
      • New Title: Biological and Neuropsychological Bases of Behavior
