The following language will be added to the SEHD syllabus template regarding Starfish (use of the language is optional:

  • I am taking part in a student success “early alert” initiative at CU Denver called Starfish Early Alert.  I will make an effort to communicate directly with you about any concerns I have about your performance/learning in this course. Starfish is an additional way to connect you with resources and a network of support. Throughout the semester, you may receive emails from Starfish regarding your course grades, attendance, or academic performance. You can also login to UCDAccess (ucdenver.edu/UCDAccess) or Canvas and click on the Starfish link to view academic alerts and detailed information. I encourage you to act when you receive these emails and information in Starfish. I want you to get the most out of this course!

The Curriculum Committee will reach out to the Diversity Committee for their expertise and input, with respect to adding language about sexual and gender diversity to the SEHD syllabus template.

OTHER ITEMS/UPDATES

Dean Kantor proposed having the program area get prior permission from the dean in order to bring a new course to the curriculum committee. This is to make certain a new course will fit within the scope of a program, and not duplicate courses already offered.
