SEHD is a co-sponsor of this event, part of the 2nd Annual Colorado Critical Interdisciplinary Speaker Series, featuring Dr. Michael Hardt from Duke University, who will be giving a timely talk entitled, “Where Have All the Leaders Gone?“. There are a total of 29 campus sponsors: 2 colleges, 4 schools, 13 departments, and 8 centers and organizations; as well as five faculty from CU Denver and CU Boulder who will be serving as respondents at the public talk.

Description: Throughout the 20th century, charismatic leaders were often at the forefront of social and political movements. In this public talk, Dr. Michael Hardt, author, with Antonio Negri, of the bestselling “Empire” trilogy, will challenge the audience to think critically about the changing landscape of 21st century leadership and organizing in global and local movements for change.

“The Financialization of Popular Life”
Description: Dr. Hardt will lead a seminar for faculty and graduate students based upon two short articles recently published in his journal, the South Atlantic Quarterly. All participants to this seminar are expected to have read the articles to prepare for the discussion.
