Discussion with Antwan on Student Surveys
- Three surveys go out regularly to students:
- Exit survey for graduating students
- SEHD Climate Survey
- Social Justice Scale (teacher education only)
- Other committees are looking at contributing updates, DEI specifically.
- They are summative and support program changes after students have completed their degrees.
- The committee discussed where we can best influence formative evaluation.
- Beyond expanding the charge of the student committee, which would take a change in the by-laws, our options to continue our focus on improving student feedback are:
- Recommend survey question revisions to the office of assessment.
- Recommend FCQ revisions. The SEHD can add up to 5 additional questions.
- Create opportunities for IRC faculty who are not full-time to have professional development on feedback.
- Shed light and offer resources in small, but meaningful ways (i.e., suggest a syllabus statement on feedback.
- The committee members will reflect on these options and make a decision on next steps at the April meeting.
