As you likely know, the Computer Lab (1100) will close with the opening of the Learning Commons. This will not take place until the week of December 13th, after Finals Week is complete. Please do not plan on using or reserving 1100 beyond December 13th.
The computers currently located in 1100 will be relocated to the Learning Commons where students will retain a place to go online, print, work, and etc. The new workspace is in an open area and is effectively an open-lab, meaning it is not an instructional space for lectures, discussions, or meetings. The open-lab is located in a large public area, not conducive for classes or meetings.
For those needing occasional computer-lab access, we will continue to maintain the SEHD laptop carts, which can be used in any SEHD classroom – just let us know the day/time/need at
sehdhelp@ucdenver.edu. We are planning to upgrade these laptops in the Spring. We are also researching options for reserving
other computer labs around campus, but have no response from lab-managers as of yet.
Plans for re-inventing 1100 as a modern instructional space are already underway. A number of faculty and staff have been brainstorming and dreaming of how the space might be rebooted to best serve the SEHD. Ideas and plans are preliminary with broad visions of a showcase classroom that is high-tech and high-flex with an
Active Learning orientation. There is an open-door for anyone who would like to brainstorm, contribute, and advise on how 1100 is re–invented. If you are interested, please just let me know…
