Finding Hiawatha
Animal-Assisted Therapy Ranch

Finding Hiawatha is an animal assisted therapy ranch where healing
and growth takes place with the assistance of animals. We provide
equine and animal-assisted psychotherapy for individuals, couples,
and parents of all ages. While we work with people of all ages, our
client population consists of approximately 75% children and
adolescents. Because of this, we are big on play therapy and
incorporating the animals into this modality.

Finding Hiawatha has been described as a “Secret Garden” located in
the heart of Lakewood with easy access to and from public
transportation.

We have a team of three LPC’s and thirteen animals ranging in size
from rats to horses. We share space, and journey alongside 4 horses, 2
goats, 2 cats, 2 dogs, and 3 rats, who all live full time on the ranch.
They each have their own gift in providing comfort, acceptance, and
safety for clients’ to grow and heal while participating in therapy at
the ranch.
