My name is Bradley McKibben, an Assistant Professor of [Counselor Education at The University of Alabama/Clinical Mental Health Counseling at The University of Memphis]. My colleagues and I are conducting a study called “Examining Supervisees’ Perceptions of Feminist Supervision and Non-Disclosure.” I am writing to request your participation in this IRB-approved study, which we hope will help us better understand how feminist supervision practices impact the working alliance and supervisees’ attempts to not disclose information in supervision.

To be eligible to participate, you must be currently enrolled as a master’s student in a CACREP-accredited counselor education program and currently enrolled in a Counseling Internship placement for which you are receiving supervision. The study will take about 10-15 minutes of your time.

We will protect your confidentiality by storing your data securely on a password protected, encrypted computer. Only my colleagues and I will have access to the data. The data will be anonymous as you will not be asked for any identifying information. IP addresses will be not tracked or recorded as a part of this research. Only summarized data will be presented at meetings or in publications.

If you choose to participate in this study, you have the option to enter your email address (in a separate form that will not be attached to your data) for a chance to $20 cash. Five recipients will be selected randomly once the study is concluded. IRB review has determined that risks to participants are minimal. The chief risk is that some of the questions may make you uncomfortable. You may skip any questions you do not want to answer. Your participation is voluntary, and you are free not to participate or stop participating any time before you submit your answers.

If you have questions about this study, please contact Dr. McKibben at wbmckibben@ua.edu. If you have questions about your rights as a research participant, contact Ms. Tanta Myles (Research Compliance Officer) at (205) 348-8461 or toll-free at 1-877-820-3066. If you have complaints or concerns about this study, file them through the UA IRB outreach website at http://osp.ua.edu/site/PRCO_Welcome.html.Also, if you participate, you are encouraged to complete the short Survey for Research Participants online at this website. This helps  UA improve its protection of human research participants. Thank you for providing your voice in this study and for helping us better understand your supervision experiences!
