I have also attached a list of the internships we will be offering this summer. They will also be offering a 6th internship in an integrated Family Practice setting, but still waiting for a written description.

Internship Descriptions

Summer 2016

 

Access/ Emergency (Arvada) Intake Internship: The Access/Emergency Team is comprised of the Central Intake Department, Intake Department, Forensic Department and the Emergency Department. Our 8-bed hospital alternative facility (HAF House) also falls under the Access/Emergency umbrella. Our mission is to welcome people to services and to address their needs to the best of our ability. We professionally evaluate consumers’ mental health needs and provide same-day linkage and direct referral to other services such as Navigation, Wellness, PAP programs, and benefits acquisition. Our goal is to provide entry to multiple services during the initial visit. Consumers are seen by appointment or on a walk-in basis. We offer routine, urgent and emergency services. This internship will focus on learning assessments, diagnosing and intakes. Interns will also have a case load of clients for ongoing therapy and group therapy. This internship is supervised by an LPC with 5 years post license experience.

Adult Outpatient (W. Colfax): Adult Outpatient Transitional Service clinicians will provide services for clients after they are discharged from the hospital before they see their primary therapist, anywhere from 1-3 sessions depending on their needs (short-term therapy). Clinicians will assess their needs and situation then refer them to the appropriate services. Clients that are seen are coping with addiction as well as various personality and mood disorders. Clients are seen to help keep them safe and focused on recovery. The supervisor for this internship has an LPC and LAC and 5 years post license experience.

 

Mountain Team Outpatient (Evergreen: 31207 Keats Way, Evergreen, CO): We are an outpatient team who serves children, adolescents and adults with a variety of diagnoses.  We run groups for adults and adolescents.  We have clinicians who all function as generalists, though each have specialties and strengths such as working with adolescents, CAC/substance abuse, and trauma.  Interns in programs for counseling or social work may apply.  We are looking for someone who is flexible, engaging and enthusiastic about being exposed to different theoretical orientations and a broad spectrum of client concerns. This internship is co-supervised by an LPC/LAC.

 

Families Together Program (Arvada: 4851 Independence St. Arvada, CO): This is an intensive in home family preservation program. Interns can have the opportunity to shadow and take on in-home families. We serve all ages. They will gain Family therapy, case management, medication knowledge, and some court involvement. We usually get referrals for our clients from Social Services, school based programs, FSOP, AOP, courts. We meet weekly, but sometimes more. We are on call 24/7, (We work around intern’s schedules if this is an issue). Our team meets once a month. Supervisor also able to give the intern some Outpatient clients depending on what they want to gain in knowledge. We have clients as young as 4 and as old as 18 in our FSOP program. The intern will gain outpatient, case management, and medication knowledge in this setting. For both programs, afternoons and evening hours are important to be able to be available. The supervisor for this internship has an LPC and has at least 5 years Post-Master’s experience.

 

Veteran and Military Family Services Program (Wheat Ridge: 4851 Independence St, Wheat Ridge, CO)

This is an outpatient mental health program which provides mental health counseling to Veterans and military family members impacted by military service as well as outreach and education in our communities to reduce stigma and barriers to care. Clients can receive individual and group therapy and assistance accessing the resources of Jefferson Center and in the community. The team also works to expand the capacity of the Center and community to meet the needs of this population through initiatives, such as: in-service training, community training offerings, partnering with Veteran Service Organizations and community coalitions, and hosting or participating in community events. The internship will provide opportunities for the intern to: maintain a caseload of Veterans and military family members for outpatient therapy, complete psychosocial intakes, co-facilitate a group, develop and lead a psychoeducational group, provide case management and resource connection, assist in outreach activities in the community, observe 1st Judicial District Veterans Treatment Court, research and compile appropriate resources, and other opportunities to gain experience with the Veteran and military family community.The intern will work during normal business hours with infrequent after-hours and weekend outreach events. The supervision for this internship will be provided jointly by a provider with a LPC and LAC with at least 4 years Post-Master’s experience and a provider with a LCSW and at least 3 years Post-MSW experience.
