Dear Colleagues and Friends,
I am pleased to announce some volunteer opportunities for mental health professionals at The Gender Identity Center of Colorado. We provide low-cost/no-cost clinical services for transgender and gender non-conforming clients and their SOFFAs. There is a great need for these services, and we have grown exponentially in the past few years. We are now open and providing services 9am-9pm, 7 days a week, all with an all-volunteer team and staff!
We have a need for volunteers at a few different levels. Our most urgent need right now is for on-site task supervisors. This role is one of clinical oversight while interns are seeing clients, providing support, and being available in the case of a clinical emergency (happens a couple times a year.) The request is that people volunteer a minimum of one shift per month, and prefer two a month. Shifts are scheduled in 2-6 hour blocks. In exchange for the volunteer hours, I will provide 1 free hour of clinical supervision towards licensure for every 10-12 hours donated. Volunteers must hold a master’s degree. These volunteer positions are an excellent CV builder, as well as a great way to learn more about the transgender community, and gain hours towards licensure.
The second level of need is for Pro Bono licensed supervisors to see an intern for 1 hour of clinical supervision once every other week. These supervision sessions are held at your office, at your convenience! Clinical supervisors are listed on our website, building networking and credibility while giving back to the community.
If you or someone you know is interested in either of these opportunities, please have them contact me via email, expressing their interest: karen.scarpella@gic-colorado.org
Thank you so much for your support!
Kind Regards,
Dr. Karen Scarpella
