Her presentation is titled, \u201c<em>Increasing Equitable Educational Opportunities for Bilingual Latino Students<\/em>.\u201d More information can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/sehd.ucdenver.edu\/impact\/2017\/01\/26\/research-presentation-feb-7-increasing-equitable-educational-opportunities-for-bilingual-latino-students\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Brief Bio<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Lucinda Soltero-Gonz\u00e1lez is an educational consultant for research projects in the BUENO Center for Multicultural Education at the University of Colorado Boulder. She taught in elementary school and bilingual special education classrooms for several years before receiving her doctorate degree in Language, Reading, and Culture from the University of Arizona in 2007. She was an Assistant Professor in the Educational Equity and Cultural Diversity program at the University of Colorado Boulder for nine years. Her research addresses issues of equity, language, literacy and culture in the education of young bilingual Latinos. In particular, she investigates early biliteracy development and biliteracy practices in U.S. schools. She examines ways to create culturally- and linguistically-responsive learning environments to increase equitable opportunities for learning for students from non-dominant backgrounds in school.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Soltero-Gonz\u00e1lez\u2019s research has been published in a variety of peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes.
