We need a chairperson this year. Kara Viesca\u00a0served last year.Please volunteer if you are willing to chair the committee OR nominate someone who might be able to do it<b>.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>2. Historically, this committee\u00a0advises the Dean regarding\u00a0student academic appeals and\u00a0awards scholarship funds.<\/p>\n<p>We understand that\u00a0Honor Code\u00a0issues for undergraduates\u00a0will likely soon\u00a0be\u00a0handled at the university level rather than by individual colleges. Provost Nairn should approve (or not) that suggestion soon. If approved, undergraduate appeals will then likely be handled by a university-wide committee.<\/p>\n<p>Doctoral level\u00a0appeals are handled by the Graduate School.<\/p>\n<p>That\u00a0leaves MA appeals to our committee, but maybe only for the short term. If undergraduate appeals move to a university-wide committee, then SEHD&#8217;s Student Committee may be relieved of that responsibility altogether.<\/p>\n<p>3. We discussed the possibility of a student or students sitting on the Student Committee. That move might depend on the Provost&#8217;s decision about moving appeals to\u00a0university-wide committee and out of specific colleges.<\/p>\n<p>4.
