On Friday, October 3, SEHD welcomed nearly\u00a0<b>200 high school students<\/b>\u00a0from across Colorado for a day of inspiration, learning, and connection.<\/div>\n<div>The students took part in interactive breakout sessions, heard from community leaders, and learned about how CU Denver\u2019s teacher education program can help them thrive in their future classrooms.<\/div>\n<div>This year\u2019s expo was featured on the local channel 4 news! You can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/colorado\/video\/future-teacher-expo-hopes-to-inspire-next-generation-amid-teacher-shortage\/\"><strong>view the story here<\/strong><\/a>, which includes remarks from Dean Marvin Lynn, guests, and student panelists.<u><\/u><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>None of this year\u2019s event would have been possible without the incredible efforts of our staff and faculty. The Office of Recruitment &amp; Outreach would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the following individuals who went above and beyond to make the day memorable:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Christopher Carson<\/b>,\u00a0<i>Senior Instructor\u00a0&#8211; Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education<\/i>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>Chris stepped up in a moment of need, adjusting his schedule the day before the Expo to lead two breakout sessions. His responsiveness and enthusiasm made a significant impact during a critical time.<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Dr. Geneva Sarcedo,\u00a0<\/b><i>Program Director \u2013 Call Me MISTER<\/i>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>Geneva volunteered as a breakout session leader for Teacher Education in the absence of enough faculty volunteers. Her sessions referenced\u00a0<u><a href=\"https:\/\/iseeed.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/JDA.Gangsta.pdf\" rel=\"noopener\">Duncan-Andrade\u2019s concept<\/a><\/u>\u00a0of Gangstas, Wankstas, and Ridas, sparking meaningful reflection and discussion.<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Batol Swade,\u00a0<\/b><i>Academic Advisor.<\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>Batol facilitated three breakout sessions focused on student success, drawing from her experience co-teaching a UNIV class this semester. Her sessions provided valuable insights into thriving in college.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>We also extend our deepest appreciation to the\u00a0<b>20+ SEHD volunteers and facilitators<\/b>\u00a0who supported the event in various roles.
