{"id":20063,"date":"2025-06-03T14:54:19","date_gmt":"2025-06-03T20:54:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sehd.ucdenver.edu\/impact\/?p=20063"},"modified":"2025-06-03T16:20:15","modified_gmt":"2025-06-03T22:20:15","slug":"hr-tip-use-your-vacation-leave-or-donate-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sehd.ucdenver.edu\/impact\/2025\/06\/03\/hr-tip-use-your-vacation-leave-or-donate-it\/","title":{"rendered":"HR Tip: Use Your Vacation Leave or Donate It"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><strong>Important: Unused Vacation Hours Will Be Swept After June 30, 2025<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>As the end of the university\u2019s fiscal year approaches (which runs from July 1 to June 30), now is a good time to <strong>check your vacation leave balance<\/strong> and make a plan to use your hours.<\/p>\n<p>If you have more leave than the allowed limit, those extra hours will be removed automatically in July.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Who This Affects<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>University Staff and 12-Month Faculty:<\/strong><br \/>\nYou may carry over up to <strong>352 hours<\/strong> of vacation leave (which is equal to 44 days).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Classified Staff:<\/strong><br \/>\nYour carryover limit depends on how many years you have worked.<br \/>\nYou can check the limits on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cu.edu\/employee-services\/collaborative-hr-services\/cu-system\/time\/vacation-and-sick-time-leave-policies\">University of Colorado vacation and sick leave policy webpage<\/a> (link opens in new tab).<\/p>\n<p>Any vacation hours above the limit will be removed after June 30.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>How to Check Your Vacation Leave Balance<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/portal.cu.edu\">CU Employee Portal website<\/a> (link opens in new tab).<\/li>\n<li>Sign in with your university credentials.<\/li>\n<li>Select \u201c<strong>My Leave<\/strong>\u201d under CU Resources.<\/li>\n<li>Your vacation leave balance is listed on the main page.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If you have trouble accessing the portal or understanding your balance, please contact SEHD Human Resources. Contact information is at the bottom of this message.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Can\u2019t Use All Your Time?
