{"id":18194,"date":"2023-11-09T14:52:45","date_gmt":"2023-11-09T21:52:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sehd.ucdenver.edu\/impact\/?p=18194"},"modified":"2023-11-09T14:52:45","modified_gmt":"2023-11-09T21:52:45","slug":"dei-committee-meeting-minutes-11-06-23","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sehd.ucdenver.edu\/impact\/2023\/11\/09\/dei-committee-meeting-minutes-11-06-23\/","title":{"rendered":"DEI Committee Meeting Minutes (11\/06\/23)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Nov 6, 2023 | DEI Committee Meeting<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Attendees:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Paula Gallegos<\/p>\n<p>Chaya Abrams<\/p>\n<p>Tom Su<\/p>\n<p>Robin Brandehoff<\/p>\n<p>Dane Stickney<\/p>\n<p>Ch\u00e9lynn Randolph<\/p>\n<p>Ren\u00e9e Wilkins-Clark<\/p>\n<p>Amy Ferrell<\/p>\n<p><strong>Notes<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Committee checked in with each other.<\/li>\n<li>Committee brainstormed various goals for the year.\n<ul>\n<li>Interpreting feedback from students, especially Doc Students of Color<\/li>\n<li>Book\/article studies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Committee talked with Antwan to identify ways we can collaborate.\n<ul>\n<li>One priority is to address where our commitments to equity and social justice don\u2019t align with our actions.<\/li>\n<li>Support faculty with inclusive pedagogy, high expectations, meaningful work.<\/li>\n<li>Possible collaborations with First Friday groups:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Black @ SEHD Group<\/strong>: community, advocacy, multiple opportunities for support, and collaboration with other affinity groups.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Inclusive Pedagogy Group<\/strong>: teaching, learning, and curricular design that are informed by anti-racism, belongingness, critical pedagogy, pedagogy of love, and healing.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Discursive Practices Group<\/strong>: community of practice in which professionals talking to each other about their work, successes and otherwise.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Community Development Group<\/strong>: liberation, justice, humanizing pedagogies. Will address peacebuilding and community development and how to have difficult conversations in large groups.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Possible Action Items<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide support around the DSOC data: Help create a plan forward, given students\u2019 experiences and feedback.<\/li>\n<li>Further understand systemic issues that students face (e.g., understaffed counseling center, financial aid)<\/li>\n<li>Begin to socialize the SEHD faculty to being observed by doc students with feedback.
