{"id":14826,"date":"2020-11-16T14:34:30","date_gmt":"2020-11-16T21:34:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sehd.ucdenver.edu\/impact\/?p=14826"},"modified":"2020-11-16T14:34:30","modified_gmt":"2020-11-16T21:34:30","slug":"student-committee-meeting-november-16-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sehd.ucdenver.edu\/impact\/2020\/11\/16\/student-committee-meeting-november-16-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Student Committee Meeting November 16, 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Present<\/strong>: Sherry, Rachel, Sally, Lucinda, Rebecca, Antwan, Melody<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Topics<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Student scholarship process (Sandy Mondragon)\n<ul>\n<li>Student applies in scholarship portal and then they are matched with awards that they are eligible for (internal and external).\n<ul>\n<li>Program specific scholarship are sent to the program faculty who can review.<\/li>\n<li>The Student Committee reviews the applicants for the Alumni and School of Education award applications.<\/li>\n<li>After the semester closes financially Sandy will see if there are unspent funds and reallocate based on the ratings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Outstanding Graduate Award\n<ul>\n<li>Needs to be revised, the process is not equitable nor is it working very effectively.<\/li>\n<li>Is it important to have Outstanding Graduates Awards?\n<ul>\n<li>If we continue with this process, we need to ensure that it has some value to students (e.g., a certificate or official award letter to use for job\/graduate school applications).\n<ul>\n<li>Need to simplify and streamline, if we keep this process<\/li>\n<li>Need to work towards more equitable information for review<\/li>\n<li>We should invite the SEHD to participate in this conversation.
