Dr. Hipolito-Delgado\u2019s research interests include the ethnic identity development of Chicanas\/os\/xs and Latinas\/os\/xs, the effects of internalized racism, training to improve the cultural competence of counselors, and the sociopolitical development of youth. He has received research grants from the American Educational Research Association, the Spencer Foundation, and the Hewlett Foundation to study the sociopolitical development of students.\u00a0 Dr. Hipolito-Delgado believes that education is empowering and a tool for increasing social justice in the world. His pedagogical approach is influenced by Paulo Freire and bell. He hopes that his students leave his courses with a deeper sense of critical inquiry, an informed view of what it means to be culturally literate, and a deep desire to become advocates for social justice.\u00a0 Dr. Hipolito-Delgado serves on the Governing Board of the American Counseling Association. He is a former Trustee of the American Counseling Association Foundation.
