{"id":14081,"date":"2020-02-11T14:34:30","date_gmt":"2020-02-11T21:34:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sehd.ucdenver.edu\/impact\/?p=14081"},"modified":"2020-02-11T14:35:04","modified_gmt":"2020-02-11T21:35:04","slug":"notice-of-campus-visit-dr-elisabeth-luevanos-thursday-february-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sehd.ucdenver.edu\/impact\/2020\/02\/11\/notice-of-campus-visit-dr-elisabeth-luevanos-thursday-february-20\/","title":{"rendered":"Notice of Campus Visit &#8211; Dr. Elisabeth Luevanos (Thursday, February 20)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Elisabeth Luevanos, candidate for&nbsp;<strong>Assistant\/Associate Professor, Leadership for Educational Organizations (LEO)<\/strong>&nbsp;will be coming to campus on Thursday, February 20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A bio on Dr. Luevanos: Dr. Elisabeth Avila Lu\u00e9vanos has worked in various capacities from business to education. &nbsp;After graduating from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance, International Business, and a minor in Spanish, she went on to pursue a career in business working with multi-national organizations and managing multi-million-dollar portfolios in the finance world interacting with corporate CFOs, CEOs, and governing boards of trustees for various companies.&nbsp;                                                                                                                         After a successful career in the business sector, Dr. Lu\u00e9vanos moved on to education to pursue her passion for teaching.&nbsp; After teaching for almost a decade, she earned her Master\u2019s in Educational Administration and served as a school administrator before pursuing another dimension in education\u2014research. Seeking an opportunity to have a wider impact on the field of education and to inspire a new generation of administrators and teachers, Dr. Lu\u00e9vanos earned her doctoral degree at Texas A&amp;M University in Education Administration focusing her research on student voice and empowering and growing students to reach a greater degree of self-advocacy and self-sustainability.&nbsp; After spending many years mentoring and growing teachers, Dr. Lu\u00e9vanos felt a natural transition in teaching at the higher education level by building and growing future administrators that would engage with minority youth.&nbsp; Building the next generation of diverse leaders to lead demographically shifting schools is critical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her research presentation will be at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, February 20 in<strong>&nbsp;LSC 700.<\/strong>&nbsp;Her presentation is titled,&nbsp;<em>\u201cMeasuring K-12 Inclusion and Equity for School Improvement &amp; Why It Matters\u201d&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More information can be found\u00a0<strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/sehd.ucdenver.edu\/impact\/2020\/02\/10\/measuring-k-12-inclusion-and-equity-for-school-improvement-why-it-matters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"here (opens in a new tab)\">here<\/a><\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Elisabeth Luevanos, candidate for&nbsp;Assistant\/Associate Professor, Leadership for Educational Organizations (LEO)&nbsp;will be coming to campus on Thursday, February 20.
