{"id":10312,"date":"2017-07-19T19:49:18","date_gmt":"2017-07-19T19:49:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sehd.ucdenver.edu\/impact\/?p=10312"},"modified":"2017-07-19T19:50:02","modified_gmt":"2017-07-19T19:50:02","slug":"readme-pedagogy-and-the-logic-of-platforms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sehd.ucdenver.edu\/impact\/2017\/07\/19\/readme-pedagogy-and-the-logic-of-platforms\/","title":{"rendered":"ReadMe: Pedagogy and the Logic of Platforms"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thanks to a grant from Chancellor Horrell, we are launching the <a href=\"http:\/\/thinq.studio\">ThinqStudio<\/a> to examine critical digital pedagogy at CU Denver. \u00a0As a part of that work, we are sending 20 colleagues from the SEHD, CLAS, CAM, SPA, and CAP to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.digitalpedagogylab.com\/institute\/\">Digital Pedagogy Institute<\/a> in July and August. \u00a0Among the topics explored this summer will be equity and inclusion in the digital space. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/er.educause.edu\/articles\/2017\/7\/pedagogy-and-the-logic-of-platforms\">This article<\/a> is authored by one of the keynote speakers at this summer&#8217;s events,\u00a0Chris Gilliard, and is highly recommended.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The\u00a0<em>digital divide<\/em>\u00a0is a noun; it is the consequence of many forces. In contrast,\u00a0<em>digital redlining<\/em>\u00a0is a verb, the &#8220;doing&#8221; of difference, a &#8220;doing&#8221; whose consequences reinforce existing class structures. In one era, redlining created differences in physical access to schools, libraries, and home ownership. In my classes, we work to recognize how digital redlining is integrated into technologies, and especially education technologies, and is producing similar kinds of discriminatory results.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.digitalpedagogylab.com\/institute\/speaker\/chris-gilliard\/\">Gillard, C.<\/a> (2017, July).
