Welcome to the new SEHD Impact! This site is intended to be a hub of information for all things SEHD including faculty and SEHD committee meeting agendas and minutes, a calendar of events, links to SEHD & University policies, and various other resources for faculty & staff, just to name a few. The Impact will be updated on a continual basis and an email blast will be sent bi-weekly to all SEHD faculty & staff as well as lecturers, doc students and anyone else who indicates they would like to receive SEHD News. If you would like to receive notification whenver this site is updated with a new posting, you can subscribe to the newsfeed by clicking “Subscribe to RSS ” in the top right corner of this page. News & Announcements

Fall 2013 EDition: The newest SEHD EDition is now available and it looks great! This year’s theme is Latino Education. A hard copy is mailed to all SEHD alumni as well as various educators, community members, legislators and retired SEHD faculty and staff. A huge thank you to Julia Cummings for all of her work on it! Please Send SEHD Committee Meeting Minutes: All SEHD Committee Chairs are asked to please send approved meeting minutes to Ja’Net for posting in the Committees section of the Impact.

Send Us Your Taglines: As a reminder, we are having a contest for the tagline of the SEHD Impact so please send us your ideas!  The winner will receive a $50 gift card of their choice. Please send submissions to Ja’Net Hurt. The deadline is next Friday, September 27th.

Diversity & Excellence Grants RFP: Proposals are currently being accepted for the 2013-14 CU System Diversity & Excellence Grants. Grants of up to $3,000 each will be awarded to innovative proposals that advance the principles of diversity and inclusion in substantive ways throughout the University of Colorado system. The deadline for submission is Friday, November 1, 2013Click here to view the RFP.

AACTE Awards Call for Nominations: Nominations are currently being accepted for the AACTE Best Practice and Professional Achievement Awards. AACTE Awards honor programs and individuals whose best practices, achievements, and contributions strengthen the profession through innovation, high standards, and leadership. Nominations for are due by Friday, October 11, 2013.  Click here to view descriptions of and submission criteria for each award.

What’s Happening

SEHD & SPA Ed Policy Event Series: The Education Policy & Netwoking Event Series that the SEHD co-sponsors with the School of Public Affairs (SPA) will kick off this year on Wednesday, September 25th with the panel dicsussion Reform and Resources: The School Finance Bill & Ballot Initiative.  Panelists, incuding Senator Mike Johnston, Gail Klapper and Laura Boggs, will discuss the legislation and upcoming ballott initiative. This event will be held in the LSC 2nd Floor Terrace Room from 4:30-6:00 PM, followed by time for breakout/small group discussions from 6-7 PM. Refreshments will be served. R.A.C.E. Lecture: Reseach Advocacy in Critical Education (R.A.C.E.) presents an intellectual conversation on poetry, youth empowerment, and critical media literacy featuring Dr. Korina Jocson, Assistant Professor of Education at Washington University in St. Louis on Thursday, September, 26th at Su Teatro. The Invited Talk with Q & A will be from 3:30-5:00 PM followed by a reception.  The SEHD, including the LLCRT & UCTE Programs, are proud co-sponsors of this event. Click here for more details.
